How to Freeze Our Tortillas: Do you have extra tortillas that you want to save for a later date? Keep reading to see how to best freeze our tortillas. If the product is unopened, leave it that way. If you’ve already opened the package, leave the product in the package, press out any additional air, and seal well. Our packaging is not designed for freezing, so to protect the package, we recommend placing the package inside of a freezer safe zip-lock bag. Lay the tortillas down flat in your freezer. Keep in mind that the product will freeze in whatever position you place them, so you want them to be flat to maintain the integrity of the tortilla. The product should last about six months in the freezer. How to Thaw Our Tortillas: Keep the tortilla at a constant frozen state until you’re ready to eat it. Moving back and forth between frozen, to thawed, and then frozen again, may negatively impact the texture of the tortilla. 24 hours before you’re ready to use the tortillas, move the package, or amount of tortillas you plan to use, from the freezer to the refrigerator. Gradually thaw the tortillas out rather than shocking them from the freezer to room temperature. 30 minutes before use, place the package at room temperature. Do not place the frozen tortillas in a microwave to thaw out quickly, as it may cause the tortillas to stick together and become brittle.
